 Wooden boxes offer optimal all-around transport protection and are always used when sensitive goods have to be transported safely, especially in distant countries by land, air, or water.

Depending on the goods being transported and the required protection, massive boxes, lightweight crates, or just stable transport floors can be the safe and economical packaging solution. Our credo for every packaging solution: "as much as necessary ..."

We don't leave anything to chance, as the correct type of packaging guarantees the necessary protection of the goods on the way to their destination. Comprehensive knowledge of the goods to be transported and the type and conditions of transport are therefore indispensable prerequisites for planning and producing the best possible packaging. We need precise information about large, heavy, or sensitive goods in particular

• Weight

• Main emphasis

• Contact surface (s)

• Is the product self-supporting

• Information on shock and vibration sensitivity

• All means of transport used from the supplier to the end customer

• (truck, rail, ship, air; pre-and post-transport)

• The packaging must be suitable for containers most suitable example is French Fries boxes

Condition of the transport routes

Additionally, required protective measures such as interior linings, splash water, or climate protection for boxes and crates.

Requirements for the packaging material 

• Solid wood or possibly plywood

• Required assembly / connection method (s) 

• (Nailed, riveted, but also screwed or glued)

Required labels

Based on these parameters, we create the appropriate packaging concept or, if requested, advise our customers on packaging planning. Depending on the load and stability requirements, we differentiate between two main types of crates:

Crossbar construction for normal loads

Longitudinal and transverse beam construction for maximum stability and the highest loads

We manufacture the individual components of the corresponding packaging solution on our modern manual or CNC-controlled production systems. CNC production is beneficial for parts that require, for example, special millings or other precise machining operations. The individual pieces are then professionally assembled:

• Solid wood boxes nailed

• Plywood boxes nailed

Reusable packaging 

 Screwed where necessary

Packaging should be straightforward to recycle, glued, and provided with necessary reinforcements such as steel angles to protect lifting straps. The labeling is done either inline during the automated production of wall elements, for example, or manually after the crate has been completed.

Shortest delivery times and on-time delivery are a matter of course.

Since all order data is archived up to date at SM Custom Packaging, accurate reproducibility is guaranteed at all times, regardless of whether individual items, large series, or other (subsequent) orders are called up.

All packaging solutions from SM Custom Packaging including cardboard boxes comply with the generally recognized HPE guidelines, and all wood used for export packaging is heat-treated by ISPM 15
